Jackson Hole Ends Ski Season with Record Year

by Aventura on April 10, 2023

Yesterday, April 9th, marked the closing day of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming. Despite the irony of the first spring skiing conditions of the season, and having broken their record for the most snow in a single season with a whopping 595 inches in Rendezvous Bowl, was forced to close for the season.

However, some may question why Jackson Hole is closing early while other resorts are extending their season. The answer lies in the resort's special use permit with the Bridger Teton National Forest, which only allows for a maximum of 136 days of operation per season.

Even with a 129-inch base on the upper mountain and a 93-inch base mid-mountain, the resort had to comply with their JHMR special use permit's regulations with Bridger Teton National Forest. Jackson Hole opened on November 25th, 2022, and though it's a bummer to close with so much snow still on the mountain, the resort has no choice due to open season limitations.

But fear not, Jackson residents, as there are still plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy even after the resort closes. With biking, hiking, and fishing available, there's no shortage of fun to be had in the area. While the snow may take a while to melt, bike season is just around the corner.
